Cost Management | Quantity Surveying
Before developing our Project Management offering, D F Lynch was founded as a QS consultancy and the importance of good cost control is therefore at the core of everything we do. We pride ourselves on keeping clients properly informed from inception to completion through regular cost reporting.
We recognise that many of our clients will choose to negotiate with a preferred contractor because they like what they see of that contractor’s work elsewhere. In these situations, it is important that the contractor’s costs are reviewed to give clients peace of mind that what they are paying is value for money. We are often tasked to negotiate a fair price on behalf of our clients.
If competitive tendering is preferred, we will manage the tender process culminating in us producing a Tender Report with our findings having considered all information provided by the selection of contractors.
Throughout the construction phase we provide clients with the assurance that each month the amount they are paying to their contractor is no more or less than is due for work completed.
Project Management
Our clients are typically busy people and in many cases, particularly within our Country and Coastal portfolio, are not based near to their project. They therefore rely on us to manage and drive the process on their behalf. This starts with assembling the right team. We have built strong relationships with trusted partners throughout the UK and are therefore well placed to advise on appropriate appointments for each project.
The objectives of each client are unique. We spend time at the start of a project establishing the brief and learning what is important to our clients. We then tailor our approach to best suit these objectives and develop the Project Plan covering timescales, procurement strategy, budget, contract, and reporting protocol.
Contract Administration
Often engaged as Contract Administrators we will advise on the most appropriate contract to best suit client objectives.
We will prepare the contract documents and will administer the contract throughout the duration of the project ensuring correct procedures and mechanisms are implemented to provide protection to both Employer and Contractor.
